In Mathematics, students will begin to develop an understanding of the general principles and manipulation of numbers, expressions and equations. Learners will also acquire the skills needed for future math courses within the high school curriculum. Problem solving skills are emphasized throughout this course and students will begin to see Algebra as a valuable tool of reasoning. Endless daily uses, which may not seem like algebraic problems at first, will prove useful for everything from arranging a party, to planning a trip to negotiating a loan. Real world algebraic activities will also be introduced to demonstrate the importance of mathematics outside the classroom. The student's knowledge of the content will be measured by a variety of methods, such as quizzes, tests, presentations, projects, activities, notes, visual and/or verbal assessments.
